New Lattitudes is Based at TMM Yachts, in Road Reef Marina, Waterfront Drive, Road Town, Tortola, British Virgin Islands

The British Virgin Islands are located in the North West Caribbean Sea between St. Martin to the East and Puerto Rico to the West.

Air travel is through San Juan Puerto Rico (airport code SJU) or St Thomas (airport code STT to the East or St Martin (airport code SXM) or Antigua (airport code ANU) to the West with the final leg to Beef Island Airport on Tortola (airport code EIS) being on smaller turbo prop planes. Our base is conveniently located in Road Town, the capital of Tortola. Our charters leave from Tortola Marine Management (TMM Yachts). It is very close to the downtown ferry dock, about a 5 minute taxi ride. If you come into the West End ferry dock, then the taxi ride is around 30 minutes. The airport is located at the Eastern end of the island and the taxi ride is around 40 minutes to our base. There are nearby grocery stores and restaurants.

We do recommend that you purchase travel insurance before your trip, especially if travelling during hurricane season or the the winter months from Northern States and Canada. We recommend that you contact Travel Insured – see link below or call 1-800-243-3174 to speak to someone about your insurance needs.     https://www.travelinsured.com/agency?template=One

Please note that all American citizens  travelling to and from the Caribbean will require a current passport for their return to the US.

The climate in the British Virgin Islands stays relatively constant year round with temperatures ranging from 75-85 degrees. Transportation in and around our islands is frequently provided by small aircraft and ferries. These aircraft have limited luggage capacity, therefore, you should only pack what is necessary. Do not forget your camera, swimsuit, walking shoes, sandals, T-shirts, cap, sunglasses and sunscreen. Dress in the islands ranges from very casual to casually chic. Women will need to dress no more formal than skirt or shorts and top or summery dresses for dinner and evening functions. Men may wish to pack sports coat and slacks as some of the more luxurious properties require this dress for dinner. In most establishments, however, shorts and T-shirts are acceptable. Please note that TMM Yachts does NOT have any room to store empty luggage. The best bags to bring are soft sided duffels that can be stored easily onboard.

Taxi Fares
Once you let us know your arrival information we will arrange for a taxi to meet you and bring you to the base. The rates are as follows:

If you are coming through St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands then below is a list of the ferry schedules to help you plan your arrival. You can catch the ferry from downtown Charlotte Amalie or the Eastern end of St. Thomas at Red Hook. It’s always a good idea to check on the last ferry of the day as sometimes they can leave fairly early at around 415pm. There are three main ferry companies that run between St. Thomas and Tortola and they are Smiths Ferries (the blue boat), Native Son (the green boat) or Tortola Fast Ferry (the catamaran). Ferry departure tax at $20.00/person Who should I look for when coming through customs?

We recommend you phone the ferry companies to verify departure times, as rates and times do change occasionally.
